Welcome to Aloha Beach Camp's blog. We're looking forward to a great summer and hope you'll join us! You can also visit our main Aloha Beach Camp and Keiki Camp websites for more information and camp registration materials. See you on the beach!
Things are rolling at Aloha Beach Camp. We're getting ready for another fantastic summer. The 2009 brochure is in production and should be available next week. If you haven't signed up for camp, now's a good time to start thinking about it. We've got our first open house in 6 weeks and then we'll be facing enrollment gridlock like we do every year.
Lots of folks are asking if they need to RSVP to attend Aloha Beach Camp's Open House. No way! :-) Just show up whenever you can, no reservations needed. The first open house is Sunday, March 15. Hope to see you there!
Here's a picture of Aloha Beach Camp's High Action Camp at Zuma Beach, the Cosmic Water Slide. 's how it works. We carve a downgrade in the sand 100 feet in length, then cover it up with plastic and wet it down so it's slippery.
With a running start, campers toss an inflatable raft in front themselves and dive on for a wet and wild "ride down the Slide."
This video ends as fast as it starts. The reason we like it is because it conveys all the things about Aloha Beach Camp's surf camp -- including soft foam surf boards, gentle surf, clean water and consistent wave activity at Zuma Beach in Malibu -- your child will love.
The new 2009 Aloha Beach Camp summer brochure is almost ready. We've just finished designing it, and it's at the printer. Should be ready in a week or two -- around the first week of February at the latest. Families who attended camp last summer will automatically receive the new brochure. If you're are a new or prospective customer and want one, please visit http://www.alohabeachcamp.com/ and join our email list. Or, follow this link -- http://www.alohabeachcamp.com/free-brochure.html -- and fill out the form. (We also have a bunch of brochure's left over from last summer so we can send you one of those in the meantime.)
It's not just kids who have fun at Aloha Beach Camp. Counselors always get to play, too! Here's a camp video of Joe Rome, one of our Keiki Camp counselors, swinging at the pinata. After he busted it open, the kids ate the candy...yum!
Enjoy this Sand Dodgeball at Aloha Beach Camp video. Here's how we play. We draw a line in the sand as boundaries. Each team stays on their side of the line. Each team gets 10 beach balls to throw back and forth at the other team. If the ball hits you, you're out of the game until the next round. The team with the most players still standing on their side of the beach at the end wins the game!
All of our Aloha Beach Camp staff agree, this is one of our all-time favorite pictures! Two great thing about Aloha Beach Camp's face painting activity: 1) any age group can do it, and 2) you don't have to limit the paint to your face, lol!
These girls caught a big one and it didn't get away! You can come fishing with us too at Santa Monica pier if your kids are between 8 and 15, and at the Paradise Cove pier if you have younger children ages 4, 5, 6, or 7. We fish all the time at camp and it's a blast. The counselors help the kids bait the hooks and do everything else. We'll even send your child home with a cool picture of any fish they catch that day!
Meet Aloha Beach Camp kid Lindsey H. Lindsey goes to our High Action program for older kids and teens ages 8 to 15. Here she gives one of the best testimonial of Aloha you could imagine saying she can't believe she wasted so many years not going to camp with us!
Here's a fun video of camper Hayley at Castaic Lake just before it's time to go jet skiing at Aloha Beach Camp's High Action Camp. Campers always wear properly fitting, coast guard-approved lifevests for all boating activities.
Meet Keiki Camp Director Lisa Correa, back for her 7th year with us in 2009.
What do we do at the Keiki Camp? It's really cool! Aloha Beach Camp's Keiki program takes place at Paradise Cove, Malibu. This is the first and only beach day camp program desgined exclusively for younger kids. So if your child is 4, 5, 6 or 7 years old, Keiki Camp is the only place to be. Here's a partial list of camp activities so you can see some of the stuff we do: Boogie boarding lessons
Ocean swimming lessons
Sun and ocean safety clinics
Surfing lessons
Tide pool exploration
Metal detectors
Surfing on the sand
Group sand games
Candy lei making
Ancient Hawaiian crafts
Tiki torch ceremony
Beach fitness
Coconut races
So much more!
